Poem: Don't Call Me "Toxic" Just Because We're Too Different

πŸ’ In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

πŸ’Œ We're seen as "toxic" by those whom Allah didn't choose

To enter our circle, so they tend to misconstrue

Our intentions, accusing us of "bad attitude"

When we just can't connect, hence they're easily eschewed.

~•~

They expect us to react to their posts constantly,

Message them daily, massage their insecurities,

And comfort their low self-esteem with sycophancy,

Then when we disappoint, they accuse us of "envy".

~•~

Honestly, though we don't nurture "crab mentality",

Some mistake our lack of interest for "jealousy".

You can't compel shoppers to buy more than what they need

Or force them to purchase stuff which they think are lousy.

~•~

So don't claim a person is "mean" or "toxic" simply

Because they're not always free to cheer, scan your selfies,

Or their lack of Oscar awards makes it uneasy

For them to act like they relate to you profoundly.

~•~

Only those whom Allah chose can see your true value.

If you're that complex, unique and special, very few

Can match your vibes. Recall the story of Prophet Nuh ('alaihis salaam).

Seek Allah's Love, without needing His slaves to approve.

πŸ“– Abdullah Ibn Amr RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, who are the best people?” The Messenger of Allah SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, “One with a heart swept clean and truthful in speech.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, we know truthful in speech. What is a heart swept clean?” The Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "One that is mindful of Allah and pure, in which there is no sin, nor aggression, nor envy." We said, “Who shows a sign of it?” The Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "One who hates worldliness and loves the Hereafter." They said, “And who shows a sign of it?” The Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "A believer with good character."
