Poem: To Receive Allah's Mercy, Don't Cut Off Ties With Your Family And Relatives Purposely

πŸ’ In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
πŸ’Œ In the past many from the pious had enemies
And critics from their own flesh and blood, their families,
Who opposed them due to a difference in beliefs,
Who refused to support them because of jealousy,
And who abandoned them despite being family.
~•~
From them were Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) who was unjustly
Rebuked by Abu Lahab who stuck to misbelief,
Ibrahim ('alaihis salaam) who tried to advise his father kindly,
Nuh ('alaihis salaam) who did his best to save his son from fallacies,
And Yusuf ('alaihis salaam) who put up with his half-brothers' envy.
~•~
So if you receive unkind treatment from some aunties,
If you've been the victim of some cousins' mockery,
If you have a sibling who despises your hobbies,
A child who often deals with you disrespectfully,
Or loved ones who ignore you online and locally,
~•~
Maintain ties with them for Allah's sake courageously
With patience applied sincerely and consistently.
Say salaam to them and respond whenever they greet,
Don't act like you didn't see them when you're in the streets,
And grant them what they need whenever you have the means.
~•~
From contacting you don't prevent them arrogantly,
And unblock them if you've blocked their accounts previously.
Try to visit them when you have the ability,
Advise them when you can and pray for them frequently.
Maintain family ties to deserve Allah's Mercy.

I created the womb (rahm) and I derived it from My Name. Whoever upholds it, I will uphold him. Whoever severs it, I will deprive him of My Mercy.'"

πŸ“– Abu Huraira RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated that a person said: "O' Allah's Messenger, I have relatives with whom I try to have close relationship with but they cut off ties. I treat them well, but they treat me badly. I am good to them but they are harsh towards me." Upon this the Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said: "If it is so as you say, then it is as if you are throwing hot ashes (upon them) and there would always remain with you on behalf of Allah (an Angel to support you) who would keep you dominant over them so long as you adhere to this (path of righteousness)."
