Tips: Some Notes Regarding The Animal Sacrifice On Eid Al-Adha

๐Ÿ’ In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
๐Ÿ—’️ Some notes regarding the udh-hiya (animal sacrifice):
๐Ÿ”น Its ruling: Sunnah muakkada (emphasized Sunnah). There is reward in carrying out the sacrifice for Allah's sake. There is no punishment if a Muslim does not perform it, especially if they are physically unable or can't afford to do so.
๐Ÿ”น When can the sacrifice be done: After praying the Eid prayer, while the sun is completely up, on Eid Al-Adha (Yawm An-Nahr) or during any of the following days of Tashreeq (11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah). One shouldn't be fasting on ayyaam At-Tashreeq.
๐Ÿ”น Allah the Almighty knows best. Muslims who intend to make a sacrifice on Eid Al-Adha must avoid trimming their nails and hair strands from the moment they established their niyyah/intention on the last day of Dhul-Qi'dah. If a Muslim was unaware of this ruling, they can continue with their intention to sacrifice while avoiding trimming their nails and cutting any part of their hair on the following days, particularly on Friday/Jumuah when it is Sunnah to trim one's fingernails and toenails.
๐Ÿ”น What are the animals that can be sacrificed: Goat, cow, sheep, ram, camel. The animal to be sacrificed for Allah's sake should be mature and in good condition.
๐Ÿ”น What to say before sacrificing, while making sure that the knife is nicely sharp: "Bismillah. Allahu Akbar."
๐Ÿ”น What is the purpose or intention of sacrificing on Yawm An-Nahr or on any of the days of Tashreeq? To follow the Sunnah of the beloved Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam, seeking to be closer to Allah the Most Merciful, and aiming to attain more rewards.
๐Ÿ”น To whom can parts of the animal sacrifice be distributed: To the less fortunate, the poor or financially struggling, to one's family and relatives, to Muslim friends, and to neighbors whether they are Muslim or not Muslim yet.
๐Ÿ”น Can the sacrifice be done on behalf of the dead? Sacrificing on behalf of living Muslims takes priority over sacrificing on behalf of the deceased. If a Muslim wants to sacrifice on behalf of some dead Muslims, he/she must also include Muslims who are still alive.
๐Ÿ”น What should one's niyyah/intention be in distributing the portions of the sacrificed animal (cow, goat etc. without specified weight) to the needy? To do charity/sadaqah to seek closeness to Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala and to sincerely follow the Sunnah of the noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam in distributing the udh-hiya on Eid Al-Adha or on any of the three days of Tashreeq.
