💌 By the Messenger Muhammad (SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) we were commanded
To live in this world as travelers, strangers or guests.
Think of ourselves as tourists touring a large palace.
It would be foolish for a guest to stay distracted
By the lavish furnishings while the tour guide has left.
~•~
As a stranger in someone's apartment or office,
If you were asked for an appointment or brief visit,
You wouldn't grab items you don't rightfully possess
Nor insist on keeping the owner's things and trinkets.
You'd accomplish the mission of why you're there instead.
~•~
If you've traveled abroad before, can you recollect
How your trips to each city were like dreams - short and quick?
Similarly, the pleasures of dunya are short-lived.
For now we're alive. The next thing you know we're buried.
Prepare for death before deeds get evaluated.
~•~
Rather than fretting over how and when we'll be rich,
Focus on gaining Allah's Love to earn real success.
Better than stressing to be a graduate, intellect,
Or a wealthy founder of a high-income business
Is striving to please Allah, so from Hell we're shielded.
~•~
This passing life is a test. There's no doubt about it.
The time of our demise Allah has already set.
Pack up your luggage with righteous deeds which benefit
You in the next life. By shaytan don't be distracted.
Let's not get too comfy on earth to evade regret.
