Poem: Why I Don't Celebrate "New Years Eve"

💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 Since I prefer to follow the Hijri calendar,
This so-called "New Years Eve" is just a night regular,
Another evening prior to a day in a year.
I'm just hyped for Eid Al-Adha and Eid Al-Fitr.
~*~
While many worldwide stay awake for the big countdown,
And numbers await for the signal to blow some horns,
I look forward to sleeping amidst a noisy town,
Or surf the web with earphones on to mute outdoor sounds.
~*~
It's ironic how thousands can afford to not sleep
On this night to witness the welcoming of 'new year',
Partying and imitating those who disbelieve,
And when Fajr time comes it's hard for them to appear.
~*~
Try to differ from those who don't believe in Allah.
When they're busy clubbing at night, get up for Salah,
Praying Tahajjud/Qiyaam Al-Layl, saying Du'as,
Or having Suhoor to fast as you love the Sunnah.
~*~
So the Ummah can thrive and succeed, work on yourself,
Seek Islamic knowledge and read books good for self-help,
Apply what you've learned, and share your lessons with others.
Use each hour for Allah as a chance to get better.

📖 Ibn Umar RadhiAllahu 'anhuma narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Whoever imitates a group of people is one of them."
