Poem: Three Kinds Of Distractions To Avoid For Allah's Sake

💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 Three kinds of distractions that don't need our attention,
As minutes spent on them can cause our faith to weaken,
They provoke unpleasant feelings, or they're a hindrance
To worshiping Allah with patience and contentment:
~•~
First kind of distraction: Anything that lacks substance
Because they're not true and there's no proof to support them.
From this group are false rumors, fake news, wrong opinions,
Frenemies and bid'ah (religious innovation).
~•~
Second type of distraction that are better ignored:
Toxic people who refuse to value our efforts,
Who suspect our intentions, misunderstand our words,
Or who focus on our flaws and love seeing us hurt.
~•~
Third sort of distraction to avoid for Allah's sake:
Things or people whose presence only lead us astray,
From music and vids that trigger envy or dismay
To "crushes" and bad habits that bring about heartbreaks.
~•~
They are distractions if they distance us from Allah,
Worthy of abandonment if they invite fitna,
If they disturb our inner peace, delay our Salahs,
And disconnecting from them paves the way for Jannah.

📖 Abu Qatadah RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah the Almighty but that Allah will replace it (what you left for Allah's sake) with something better."

📖 Ibn Mas’ud RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: The Messenger of Allah SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam drew a line in the sand with his hand and he said, "This is the Straight Path of Allah." Then, the Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam drew several lines to the right and to the left, and he SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "These are other paths, and there is no path among them but that a devil is upon it calling to its way." Then the Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam recited the verse, 'Verily, this is the Straight Path, so follow it and do not follow the other ways.' (Surah Al-An'aam 6:153)
