๐ In The Name Of Allah
The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
๐ Question: What should I do if I were told “you’re so weird” or “you’re so annoying”?
๐ Answer: “Weird” them
out or “annoy” them further by refusing to change yourself to appease them, as
long as you believe that whatever you’re doing is meant to please Only Allah
the Almighty and your actions aren’t designed to deliberately disturb anybody.
Whatever critics claim about you doesn’t always determine your worth and
reality.
Imagine a long dining table filled with a wide variety of international cuisines
while you’re one of the guests. Although you’d be willing to try out every one
of the dishes presented, not all of the edibles you taste may be to your liking.
Some may be too salty, others too sweet, and others, just by their overall
appearance, would probably look too eccentric or terrifying for you to eat.
Similarly, don’t expect every soul whom Allah the Most Wise decrees that you’d
meet to find you “likable”.
The beloved Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam himself, the best and
most well-mannered of all human beings, encountered some hostility from the unbelievers,
polytheists and hypocrites. Putting effort into maintaining good character and
treating people courteously as much as possible won’t guarantee that all of
Allah’s servants will return your kindness with amity. Wolves in general would
still devour unsuspecting sheep even if the latter sent the carnivores a bundle
of carnations wanting peace, and a lion wouldn’t suddenly become “vegan” or herbivorous
just because you’re not a consumer of lion meat.
Let people describe and label you however they like, as long as you strive to sincerely
serve Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala and your action which some regard as “annoying”
isn’t a major or minor sin persistently done out of kibr/arrogance.
If there’s something about you though which can actually offend, annoy or
distract some individuals, such as occasionally emitting foul body odor when
stressed out or having bad breath after you’ve eaten something too flavorful, don’t
allow your ego to prevent you from doing what is sensible. Do what needs to be
done to achieve group harmony, if necessary. If those who criticized you continue
fault-finding while overlooking their own imperfections, acting as though they’re
flawless, then do yourself a favor and for Allah’s sake avoid inessential
interactions with them to preserve your faith/Imaan and emotional well-being.

Aisha RadhiAllahu ‘anha narrated: Allah’s noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu
'alaihi wa sallam said, “Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah by the displeasure
of the people, Allah will suffice him against the people. Whoever seeks the
pleasure of the people by the displeasure of Allah, Allah will leave him to the
patronage of the people.”

Anas Ibn Malik RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad
SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "The believer is one who is trusted by
the people. The Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe
(not guilty of backbiting, telling lies, and knowingly committing injustice).
The emigrant (muhaajir) is one who emigrates away from evil.
By the One (Allah the Almighty) in Whose Hand is my soul, a
servant will not enter Paradise if his neighbor is not secure from his
harm."

๐ Abu Huraira RadhiAllahu
'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam
said, "The strong believer is more beloved to Allah than the weak
believer, but there is goodness in both of them. Be eager for what benefits
you, seek help from Allah, and do not be frustrated. If something befalls you,
then do not say: 'If only I had done something else.' Rather say: 'Allah has
decreed what He wills.' Verily, the phrase ‘if only’ opens the way for the work
of shaytan."
