Poem: Three Kinds Of Distractions To Avoid For Allah's Sake

💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 Three kinds of distractions that don't need our attention,
As minutes spent on them can cause our faith to weaken,
They provoke unpleasant feelings, or they're a hindrance
To worshiping Allah with patience and contentment:
~•~
First kind of distraction: Anything that lacks substance
Because they're not true and there's no proof to support them.
From this group are false rumors, fake news, wrong opinions,
Frenemies and bid'ah (religious innovation).
~•~
Second type of distraction that are better ignored:
Toxic people who refuse to value our efforts,
Who suspect our intentions, misunderstand our words,
Or who focus on our flaws and love seeing us hurt.
~•~
Third sort of distraction to avoid for Allah's sake:
Things or people whose presence only lead us astray,
From music and vids that trigger envy or dismay
To "crushes" and bad habits that bring about heartbreaks.
~•~
They are distractions if they distance us from Allah,
Worthy of abandonment if they invite fitna,
If they disturb our inner peace, delay our Salahs,
And disconnecting from them paves the way for Jannah.

📖 Abu Qatadah RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah the Almighty but that Allah will replace it (what you left for Allah's sake) with something better."

📖 Ibn Mas’ud RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: The Messenger of Allah SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam drew a line in the sand with his hand and he said, "This is the Straight Path of Allah." Then, the Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam drew several lines to the right and to the left, and he SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "These are other paths, and there is no path among them but that a devil is upon it calling to its way." Then the Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam recited the verse, 'Verily, this is the Straight Path, so follow it and do not follow the other ways.' (Surah Al-An'aam 6:153)

Poem: Beautiful Character Is One Of Allah's Blessings

💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 When Allah loves you, He grants beautiful character,
Actual knowledge of Islam so your faith gets stronger,
And by meeting some souls you're guided to have Sabr,
Inspired to be more helpful, so you uplift others.
~•~
Backbiting is repulsive. Spreading rumors is weak.
Those who lack confidence have a tendency to seek
People's flaws and mistakes which just leads to their defeat.
Lies, trash and gossip are things the confident don't speak.
~•~
A person must be so wounded emotionally
Or insecure if they love gossiping frequently.
Upon seeing impolite people, show empathy
By refusing to deal with their negativity.
~•~
Some ignored your salaams? It's okay. Allah heard you.
Excluded from a gathering? Maintain fortitude.
Accept Allah's Qadr with patience and gratitude.
Let your Imaan rise higher with trials you go through.
~•~
Being treated badly doesn't mean you're a bad soul.
It makes sense that liars can't ally with the truthful.
Thus patiently keep serving Allah Most Merciful,
Unafraid of critics who misconstrue our life goals.

Poem: Your Children Have Rights Over You, So Give Them Good Names

💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 From your kids' rights on you is to be given good names,
Pleasant names by which they shall be called on Judgment Day,
With beautiful meanings or terms that can motivate
Them to do more good like "Muhsin", "Hasan" and "Hussain"
If the child is male, and "Saalihah" if she's female.
~•~
You can name your sons with the names of Allah's Prophets,
Such as "Adam", "Idrees", "Ibraheem", "Nooh" and "Saalih",
"Ya'qoob", "Ayyoob", "Hud", "Ishaaq", "Ismaeel", and "Yusuf",
"Musa", "Lut", "Harun", "Sulaiman", "Shoaib", "Muhammad",
"Dawood", "Ilyaas", "Yunus", "Yahya" and "Eisa/Jesus".
~•~
Or choose from the names of the rightly guided caliphs
And of entry to Paradise those who were promised,
Like "Abu Bakr" (Abdullah), trustful and honest,
"Umar" and "Ali" known for their wisdom and courage,
And "Uthmaan" who was brave yet so gentle and modest.
~•~
For your daughters you may pick names of the noble wives
Of Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) or women in his lifetime,
Such as "Khadijah" who was kind and good at advice,
"Aisha" who was courageous, intelligent and wise,
Or "Fatima" and "Nusaybah", strong, patient and bright.
~•~
Avoid choosing names of non-Muslim celebrities
Or inventing strange words just because they sound unique.
Select names from those known for their faith and piety,
Or use good adjectives like "Saabirah" and "Jameel".
Your kids are from Allah's blessings, so name them wisely.

📖 Abu Wahb Al-Jushami RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Name yourselves with the names of the prophets. The most beloved names to Allah are 'Abdullah' (the servant of Allah) and 'Abdur Rahman' (the servant of the Merciful). The most truthful of them is 'Haarith' (the harvester of good) and 'Hammaam' (the brave one). The worst names are 'Harb' (war) and 'Murrah' (bitterness)."
