Note: Some Lessons Learned After Two Earthquakes Today Jumuah Friday Here In The Philippines

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

🌃 SubhanAllah Al-'Atheem. There was a 2nd earthquake some minutes ago here in Davao city and we were shopping at SM Lanang to purchase additional gifts for one of our relatives whose wedding is tomorrow
Inn-sha-Allah Saturday and, QaddarAllahu wa maa shaa-a fa'al, we couldn't complete purchasing the nice gift bag and box which I believe creatively match the colors of the wedding theme. I distinctly remember, while waiting at the cashier's counter in National Bookstore, exchanging worried looks with the saleslady as if we were both wondering "should I continue doing this or just escape the building as fast as I can? Can I complete this transaction or would it be too late?"

While several customers were looking at the ceiling to check exactly what was happening as the shopping mall was aggressively shaking, some thought of standing between doorways or under large objects and I swiftly decided to cancel buying the items and rather than carrying them with me because I didn't pay for them yet I abruptly left them near the security guard and hurriedly told him something like "it's okay, cancel na lang, thank you!".

Then we ran as quickly as we could with the other shoppers, not even considering taking the elevators and escalators, and we followed a crowd attempting to exit using the staircase. I figured maybe we still had a chance to shop after some minutes but the staff at SM Lanang announced that the mall would be closed despite announcing some minutes ago that their shopping hours is until 10 PM.

3 Quick lessons I've learned today Jumuah Friday October 10 Alhamdulillah after two earthquakes occuring in one day:-
1🌻 Even if we intend and carefully plan to do certain things for whatever reason, our Only God and Creator Allah the Almighty Who controls everyone and everything will not allow such things to occur unless He Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala permits and decrees their occurrence. This is also why purifying our niyyah intention for Allah's sake is very important to earn some rewards even if some actions couldn't be accomplished.
2🌻 I was reminded also by one sister in Islam (sister Saliha) of how the Day of Judgment would occur on a Jumuah Friday and then a number of thought-provoking questions came to mind: What would you do if Yawmul Qiyaama arrived? What good deeds can you still do for Allah's sake even if there's an earthquake occuring, such as saying some Adhkaar and Du'a, and reminding another Muslimah to wear her hijab correctly etc.? Would you be able to save your loved ones and other human beings or would you simply focus on ensuring your own safety and well-being?
3🌻 There's always a reason and wisdom why Allah the Most Kind destines particular things to occur. Today's earthquakes for instance, with Allah's Will, revealed who from humanity are willing to help others by recording incidents which could prove to be helpful somehow and who from the Muslim Ummah/nation would post important reminders, doing Da'wah for Allah's sake, rather than staying quiet and passive, and who from the Muslims would increase in Tawbah/repentance and seeking Allah's Forgiveness. I also hope that if the CCTV was able to record us fleeing National Bookstore with other customers, maybe some of them can
Inn-sha-Allah feel enlightened to witness that instead of grabbing the items with me outdoors since there was an easy opportunity to steal, they would know that there are Muslims out there who truly value integrity if ever they came across a few Muslims who misbehaved or mistreated them in the past.

I kind of felt worried about those cash registers that were left open or unlocked - imagine if there were some greedy individuals who'd be audacious and stupid enough to steal whatever money they could find inside opened cash registers due to some cashiers forgetting to properly secure them and whatnot. That could also be another test during these difficult times - to determine who from Allah's servants are trustworthy, fully aware that Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala sees us and hears us at all times.

May Allah the Most Merciful forgive all our wrongdoings, cleanse our heart and keep us away from all the foul characteristics which displease Him Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala, and May Allah the Most Loving not take us until we have done sufficient righteous deeds which make us deserving of a peaceful entry to Jannatul Ferdaus with Allah's Mercy. Ameen🌼

Earthquakes remind us of Allah's Ultimate Might and Absolute Power, of the nearness of the coming of the Day of Resurrection, and that there are better things to study and research than to be part of an audience entertained by some Muslims vehemently arguing and bickering on social media regarding who's right and who's wrong.
