💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 When you recall that backbiting is a major sin,
And that spreading rumors is fruitless - not flattering,
Indicating you forgot that Allah All-Hearing
Hears every statement while His Angels are recording,
You'd think twice before you ridicule other Muslims.
~•~
What's the point of discussing someone's imperfections,
Flaws and problems if you're not searching for solutions?
Why talk offensively about another Muslim
And make fun of them if indulging in gossiping
Only proves you're insecure and lets you gain their sins?
~•~
Is your life that awful, full of dissatisfaction,
That you feel the need to gossip for your betterment?
The wise and observant, who receive Allah's Guidance,
Know when to speak, explain, excuse, and when to listen.
Their words aren't meant to cause drama and arguments.
~•~
Who are you to claim you perceive someone's intention
By accusing them of showing off or arrogance?
Since when have you become a judge of one's appearance?
Commenting on people's weight like a dietician
Or mocking their hobbies doesn't bring a bright outcome.
~•~
Typically those who backbite lack self-confidence,
Or the people whom they verbally abuse often
Trigger their jealous emotions, hence they are threatened.
As a Muslimah eager to have her faith strengthened,
For Allah's sake I avoid gossipy discussions.
~•~
I'd rather discuss topics on self-development,
Lessons learned from the past, analyze shared experience,
And explore reminders from some Islamic writings,
Instead of collecting someone else's wrongdoings
Through careless, meaningless and sinful conversations.
~•~
Thus pardon my distance if you find it arrogant.
I prefer learning from few, real, righteous companions,
Who welcome advice, likewise aim for self-improvement,
And whose love for Allah outweighs any attachment.
Talking to them inspires and increases enlightenment.

📖 Abdullah Ibn Amr RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: They mentioned a man in front of the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam and they said, “He only eats if he is fed! He only moves if he is made to move!” The Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "You have backbitten him." They said, “We only said what is true about him.” The Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "It is enough sin to mention bad things about your brother."
In another narration, the Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "If what you said about him were not true, you would have slandered him."
