Tips: Ways To Purify One's Nafs

 💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

💌 Some of the ways that lead to purification of one's nafs:

1) Maintaining Tawheed and steadfast belief in Allah's Oneness. Avoiding shirk, bid'ah and anything that leads to polytheism. Avoid both major and minor shirk like riyaa, intentionally doing righteous deeds to show off.

2) Saying Du'a regularly.

3) Sincerely reading from the Noble Qur'an frequently, understanding Allah's Message and striving to implement what one learns.

4) Adhering to, following and loving the Sunnah of the beloved Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam.

5) Cleansing one's heart from evil desires and negative qualities such as jealousy, dissatisfaction with Allah's Qadr/Destiny, and being excessively attached to people. 

Doing Tawbah and trying one's best to stay away from sins and haraam actions. 

Striving to control one's nafs while doing good deeds for Allah's sake with Ikhlaas/sincerity.

Beautifying one's heart with noble and dignified traits like humility, sincerity and having positive thoughts of other Muslims.

6) Closing all the pathways which lead to distancing oneself from purifying one's nafs. Shunning distractions, obstacles and fitna.

7) Constantly remembering death and preparing oneself to meet Allah the Almighty by doing the good deeds that Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala loves.

8) Carefully choosing one's close friends and befriending only the pious true Muslims who strive to be closer to Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala.

9) Detaching oneself from self-amazement and acting as though one is flawless or more superior to others.

Understand that guidance only comes from Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala Who guides whom He Wills and Who knows who are the truly guided believers.

10) Self-awareness. Being aware of one's weaknesses, limitations, needs, inclinations, strengths, potentials and reality. The more you familiarize yourself with your enemies and their intentions, the easier you can defeat them. Likewise the more you know your nafs, the more you can practice self-control and self-discipline.

💌 Ever went to buffet restaurants and realized 

Not all of the dishes displayed were ones that you like?

You had to carefully choose which foods brought you delight 

And ignore edibles that seemed weird though they looked nice.

Also in life. By everyone we cannot be liked.

Our good traits and wow factors may frighten certain types.

Some assume we're "insincere" while we're just being kind,

And others guess we're up to something each time we smile.

The language your soul speaks is readily recognized 

By souls whom Allah destined to appear in your life.

So if you're special and more complex, don't be surprised

If most people mistrust you or misconstrue your vibes.

Prophet Noah, may peace be upon him, he survived

With only a few supporters throughout his lifetime.

Our worth is never measured by how much we're well-liked,

But how much we want to be from those whom Allah guides.

Hence do not doubt your value when haters criticize,

When the jealous try to trump you with terrible lies,

When you feel ignored, or when you see trolls roll their eyes.

They're either insecure, scared of you, or sad inside.

Stay kind-hearted for Allah. Speak the truth, it's your right.

Don't undermine yourself because numbers fear your light.

Shine like the sun keeps shining even when criticized,

And when some peeps leave your circle, you're still strong and fine.

Maintain inner strength by trusting Allah day and night,

Aware we require Allah's Love, not His servants' likes.

When strangers or ex-friends insist on saying good-bye,

Let them go. As long as we have Allah, we're alright.

💌 Aspire to learn good manners and keep them even when
Some treat you badly or suspect you're just pretending.
Seem cheerful or at least respond to Muslims' greetings,
Although your smiles may inspire someone's dismal frowning.

No matter how loud cowards guilty of self-loathing
Slam doors, criticize you or resort to backbiting,
Rise above them in terms of morals and be patient.
Small puppies tend to bark at lions when they're threatened.

If most of your acquaintances favor gossiping,
Telling lies, fault-finding or sizing up your presence,
Don't bother getting even. Aim to be different.
Be Allah's loyal servant, striving, and resilient.

Those who unfriend you, start ghosting, or grant rejection
Mustn't cause you to be unfriendly to all humans.
Their chapter in your life story is done. Make new friends
And keep trusting Allah, not enslaved by His servants.

Don't let critics' ugliness cause your heart to darken.
Let your inner glow repulse them with faith and patience.
When jealous trolls want to dim your light through mistreatment,
Thank Allah we're not the ones collecting people's sins.

Poem: For Allah's Sake Avoid Fitna And Zina

 💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

💌 They think I'm an arrogant snob when I ignore them,

Lower my gaze as though I deny their existence,

Looking away as if their face is unappealing,

When in reality I'm hiding deep attraction.

I'm mesmerized by their inner glow, good intentions,

Their passion for learning Islam and self-improvement,

And their beautiful heart attracts me with amazement, 

But my loving them for Allah gifts them with distance.

Refusal to deal with daily communication 

And resisting the urge to admire their appearance 

Are tactics I utilize to shield our well-being.

My faith/Imaan and theirs are worthy of protection.

The nafs desires to engage in flirtatious chatting 

And adoring those who captured my heart's attention,

But I refrain as I know Allah and my conscience 

Won't want me surrendering to evil temptation.

~•~

Zina/fornication and its paths are forbidden, 

Whether it's between same genders or man and woman.

Not everything the heart wants deserve swift engagement,

As it's the spot where shaytan plants his vile suggestions.

~•~

Thus strange feelings we often have for some non-mahrams 

Are but delusions from shaytan - our worst opponent.

With Taqwa, awareness of the truth, constant striving,

And consistent Tawbah, we shun shaytan's entrapment.

~•~

To chosen yet unwanted souls I find alluring:

"Let's do this, pass heart-related examinations 

With trust in Allah and ample amounts of patience.

Flee from each other so we both gain Jannah's entrance."

📖 Abu Qatadah RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah the Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better."

📖 Anas Ibn Malik RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Guarantee six deeds from me and I assure your acceptance into Paradise. When one of you speaks, let him not lie. When one of you promises, let him not break it. When one of you is trusted, let him not betray it. Lower your gaze, restrain your hands from harming others, and guard your chastity."
