💌 One of the problems of having WiFi with easy
access to YouTube is you get to watch videos which could be dangerous or
detrimental to your faith/Imaan, if you're not careful about the kind of
content you expose yourself to. Since I happen to have a curious personality
that likes to explore and research on different topics, I've discovered there
are several YouTube channels which offer "Free horoscope readings"
and "Free tarot card reading services". Many of these women call
themselves "witches" or "healers" and upload videos
showcasing a number of cards in front of the screen. On top of each "tarot
card" or "oracle card" there would often be some sort of
ornament, stone or gem which you'd pick after thinking of a specific person and
answering the question related to the video. Questions typically asked include
"Does my crush feel the same about me? What does this individual think of
me? Why do I keep thinking about him/her? Should I apply for this job? Why is
so-and-so not close to me anymore?" etc. Once you've picked a group of
cards, the "healer", "witch" or "fortune-teller"
would provide some information to describe your current situation and usually
give advice on what you can do next. For some people watching these kind of
videos, it's fun and entertaining, but for us Muslims doing this, whether you
believe in what those guessers claim or not, it is very harmful particularly if
you find yourself relying on their guesses and making decisions based on their
false predictions. Although a lot of their claims could be true, because they
generally deal with jinn or "spirits", or they're just skilled at
guessing and foretelling after carrying out extensive study, we should never go
to them whether online or offline, even if the service is free of charge or one
does it out of curiosity.
If fortune-tellers really knew the unseen, they'd testify
and agree that Islam is the only true religion which is acceptable to Allah
Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala the All-Knowing.
📖 Aisha RadhiAllahu 'anha narrated: Some people
asked the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam about soothsayers
(fortune-tellers). The Prophet Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
“They are upon nothing.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, sometimes they speak
about things that come true.” The Prophet SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
“Those are the words snatched by the jinn, who whisper it into the ears of
their friends and it is mixed with more than one hundred lies.”
