You can spend several hours watching vloggers on YouTube vlog about their
lives, showcase their OOTD (outfit of the day), or unbox random items they've
bought online, or you can make use of your time doing something more
productive, like reading articles on Islam or self-improvement, to develop
yourself instead of prying into someone's life. It's strange how the number of
Saudi and Filipino vloggers is gradually increasing, and how it is easy for a
lot of them to gain hundreds of subscribers. This shows that more and more
users allow themselves to compare their lives to others', which can be
detrimental if they're not satisfied with what they already have or they lack
self-esteem.
Watching a stranger's house tour, honest reaction to some viral videos, and review of products that you don't own cannot benefit your faith/Imaan nor enhance your well-being. Most of the popular YouTubers who indirectly advocate materialism, consumerism and extravagance, especially when they deliberately waste tons of food for mere entertainment which could be distributed to the less fortunate worldwide, can trigger feelings of insecurity, dissatisfaction and depression in many youths who aren't aware yet of the true significance of this temporary dunya.
Train yourself to mind your own business and be mindful of the kind of videos you view on YouTube, so you can stay grateful with what Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala has given you and you're not a victim of inferiority complex or ingratitude.
