Poem: Why Gossiping Is Despicable

💐 In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
💌 The tendency to gossip shows one is insecure,
Trying to downplay others to feel more reassured,
Talking badly about people without solid proof,
To lessen self-hate and so their hurt selves can be soothed.
~*~
I don't get why some "adults" highlight they're immature
Each time they vocalize thoughts that aren't true or pure.
Why make one's discourse a platform for verbal abuse,
When one can discuss issues of notable value.
~*~
Share tips on how to be worthy of Jannah's entry,
Instead of laughing at people for how they appear.
Be among the kind souls who advise, inspire and cheer.
Remind yourself: Allah sees all and He always hears.
~*~
Choose words that brighten, not ones which cause scowls to appear.
Talk about topics that improve lives and make things clear,
Rather than backbiting which make rewards disappear.
Speak when necessary. Ditch statements which bring forth tears.
~*~
There's no fun in speaking if speech turns to felony,
And if chatting invites one to gain people's misdeeds.
To walk away from toxic meetings allow me please.
Don't take offense if my choice is to ignore or leave.
~*~
Though I can form snide remarks after snarky comments,
Or formulate random jokes to hear people laughing,
I decide to save my good deeds and remain silent,
Aware that spreading rumors is haraam/forbidden.
~*~
It's obvious that envious haters gossip often,
And gossipers backbite due to low self-confidence.
So have the strength to abandon the wrong group of friends.
No need for comrades who chill to fish for people's sins.
~*~

📖 Abu Huraira RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Allah does not like for you to waste wealth, nor ask many unnecessary questions, nor spread gossip."
