💌 According to some research it is
possible for complete strangers to fall in love with each other if they
deliberately stare into each other's eyes for several minutes, even without
saying anything. This is why a number of people believe in the strange concept
of "love at first sight". Attraction cannot happen between two
individuals until both intentionally look at one another and actually like what
they see. The intensity of feeling attracted to someone increases when you
become more familiar with them, desire their presence, and view them regularly.
In Surah An-Noor verse 30-31, Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala commanded us believers to lower our gaze. So lowering the gaze when necessary is one of Allah's Orders which shouldn't be taken for granted. Whether a Muslim man looks average or handsome, and even if the guy is blind, a Muslimah should strive to control her gaze and avoid checking him out. Likewise Muslim men, whether they're married or single searching for wives, must try their best to lower their gaze when non-mahram females pass by them, regardless if they're wearing hijab or niqab, and if the women are non-Muslims.
Lowering your gaze doesn't mean you walk around with your head bent downwards towards the ground all the time, not watching where you're going, but rather when you encounter some non-mahrams you prevent yourself from staring right at them.
Instead of looking at a male speaker, salesman or ustadh directly for long periods while they're speaking, make your glances very quick devoid of feelings of admiration or better yet look at something else, not at their clothing but at the board, stage, floor, your cellphone or other inanimate object. Minimize unnecessary interactions with non-mahram males to be far away from fitna and temptation.
If you notice a non-mahram guy enjoying your view, look away from him and instantly leave that area if possible so he can't keep staring at you.
