Reasons why we Muslims don't celebrate birthdays:
1) Try to research more about the origin of birthday celebration and you can discover that some of the activities done at birthday parties originate from pagan customs or polytheistic practices.
2) Since the noble Prophet Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam never celebrated his birthday while he is the best of all human beings, it doesn't make sense for us to celebrate ourselves every year especially when we have our own flaws, struggles and imperfections.
3) Celebrating birthdays can be very costly and expensive, particularly if the parents have many children. Spending much of their income on birthday parties every year and buying gifts for their friends and relatives for each birthday celebration can be wasteful and extravagant.
4) It is one of the ways of imitating or unnecessarily copying the polytheists and unbelievers. As Muslims we should be content with our Islamic identity, and be pleased with sticking to the Sunnah of the beloved Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam instead of letting ourselves be controlled by society.
5) No matter how much you love your family, your friends and yourself, as a Muslim it's your duty to love Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala and His noble Prophet Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam more than any creation. Celebrating birthdays regularly, along with the addiction of taking selfies and uploading vlogs, only increases one's self-admiration.
📖 Jabir Ibn Abdullah RadhiAllahu 'anhu narrated: Allah's noble Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam would praise Allah in his sermon, as He deserves to be praised, and then he would say, “Whomever Allah guides, no one can lead him astray. Whomever Allah sends astray, no one can guide him. The truest word is the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam). The most evil matters are those that are newly invented, for every newly invented matter is an innovation (Bid'ah). Every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire.”
